Recognizability for Sequences of Morphisms

چکیده
We investigate different notions of recognizability for a free monoid morphism σ : A∗ → B∗. Full recognizability occurs when each (aperiodic) point in BZ admits at most one tiling with words σ(a), a ∈ A. This is stronger than the classical notion of recognizability of a substitution σ : A∗ → A∗, where the tiling must be compatible with the language of the substitution. We show that if |A| = 2, or if σ’s incidence matrix has rank |A|, or if σ is permutative, then σ is fully recognizable. Next we investigate the classical notion of recognizability and improve earlier results of Mossé (1992) and Bezuglyi, Kwiatkowski and Medynets (2009), by showing that any substitution is recognizable for aperiodic points in its substitutive shift. Finally we define recognizability and also eventual recognizability for sequences of morphisms which define an S-adic shift. We prove that a sequence of morphisms on alphabets of bounded size, such that compositions of consecutive morphisms are growing on all letters, is eventually recognizable for aperiodic points. We provide examples of eventually recognizable, but not recognizable, sequences of morphisms, and sequences of morphisms which are not eventually recognizable. As an application, for a recognizable sequence of morphisms, we obtain an almost everywhere bijective correspondence between the S-adic shift it generates, and the measurable Bratteli-Vershik dynamical system that it defines.

The constant of recognizability is computable for primitive morphisms
Mossé proved that primitive morphisms are recognizable. In this paper we give a computable upper bound for the constant of recognizability of such a morphism. This bound can be expressed only using the cardinality of the alphabet and the length of the longest image under the morphism of a letter.
متن کاملToroidalization of locally toroidal morphisms of 3-folds
A toroidalization of a dominant morphism $varphi: Xto Y$ of algebraic varieties over a field of characteristic zero is a toroidal lifting of $varphi$ obtained by performing sequences of blow ups of nonsingular subvarieties above $X$ and $Y$. We give a proof of toroidalization of locally toroidal morphisms of 3-folds.
متن کاملOverlapping Tile Automata
Premorphisms are monotonic mappings between partially ordered monoids where the morphism condition φ(xy) = φ(x)φ(y) is relaxed into the condition φ(xy) ≤ φ(x)φ(y). Their use in place of morphisms has recently been advocated in situations where classical algebraic recognizability collapses. With languages of overlapping tiles, an extension of classical recognizability by morphisms, called quasi-...

Morphisms are homomorphisms under the concatenation operation of the set of words over a finite set. Changing the elements of the finite set does not essentially change the morphism. We propose a way to select a unique representing member out of all these morphisms. This has applications to the classification of the shift dynamical systems generated by morphisms. In a similar way, we propose th...
متن کامل2-recognizability of the simple groups $B_n(3)$ and $C_n(3)$ by prime graph
Let $G$ be a finite group and let $GK(G)$ be the prime graph of $G$. We assume that $ngeqslant 5 $ is an odd number. In this paper, we show that the simple groups $B_n(3)$ and $C_n(3)$ are 2-recognizable by their prime graphs. As consequences of the result, the characterizability of the groups $B_n(3)$ and $C_n(3)$ by their spectra and by the set of orders of maximal abelian subgroups are ...
